Addis Ababa

In early November, I went to a meeting on agriculture and food
security in Addis Ababa. It is a fascinating place.

The meeting was in an historic hall, Africa Hall,
where the African Union was founded in 1963.

It was built in 1961 by the Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie.

To one side of the podium is a painting including
portraits of the heads of state who attended the founding.

The stained glass looks almost like a church, until
you figure out that Haile Selassie is the focal point of it all.
