Signs of Spring in Texas

With afternoon temperatures is the 60's and 70's so often during the last few weeks,

the bulbs,

roses,

and honeysuckle

are bursting with signs of spring.

This doesn't mean that it still won't snow, but we can enjoy spring for the moment.

Amarillo

My mother and I went to a play in Amarillo recently, and also wandered through Polk street, which was the heart of the downtown shopping district when she lived there in the 1940's. We found the Paramount theater sign, which was restored and returned to the district in 2006.

We also found the enormous mansion that the Bivins family built with profits from the oil and beef industry. It is now used by the Chamber of Commerce, which, I guess, is fitting.
